As part of UCLA’s Office of Foundation Relations & Corporate Philanthropy (FRCP), your work as our FRCP Prospect Research Associate will make a significant impact in partnering with external organizations to develop philanthropic collaborations that advance UCLA’s shared goals for research, education and services. Working collaboratively with FRCP’s frontline fundraisers and UCLA’s leadership, faculty, and staff, you will research and identify philanthropic support for robust partnerships across campus that align with UCLA’s goals and mission. As our FRCP Prospect Research Associate, you will bring your high level of prospect research, strategy, knowledge and expertise to help us create relationships and expand support of our base of private foundation and corporate philanthropic funders. As the Prospect Research Associate you will utilize knowledge of prospect research methodologies, sources and results to identify, assess and prioritize prospective private foundation and philanthropic corporate donors. You will analyze foundation and corporate giving trends and provide customized research and information to aid in the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundation and corporate donors. 1.    Prior experience and strong demonstrated abilities in prospect research with understanding of foundation and corporate philanthropy giving trends and ability to match campus opportunities for beneficial prospect involvement.   

2.    Demonstrated experience in and/or ability to validate results from statistical methods and tool; ability to proactively request analytics model to further enhance giving opportunities. 

3.    Ability to interpret individual’s wealth indicators, including stock/real estate holdings; ability to apply knowledge of demographic information to wealth indicators. 

4.    Advanced knowledge of research methodology and ethical standards; ability to apply statistical findings to data resources in order to identify trends, relationships and UCLA affinity. 

5.     Ability to verify giving capacity of the overall prospect pool for a fundraiser and for a unit. 

6.    Strong knowledge of and/or ability to understand the foundation and corporate funder cultivation process as well as ability to identify funder engagement opportunities. 

7.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with and prepare research profiles and briefings for campus leadership, including the Chancellor. 

8.    Excellent presentation skills for participation in strategic planning and prospect qualification meetings. 

9.    Advanced skill in understanding financial activity; ability to summarize relevant information from websites, annual reports and other information sources. 

10.  Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring independent decision making and in handling confidential matters/materials with tact and sensitivity. 

11.  Highly detail oriented with demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team; set priorities and complete projects within specified timeframes under minimal supervision. 

12.  Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.; able to learn new software and technologies in a prompt and efficient manner. 

13.  Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends as needed. 

14.  Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
