Position Summary
Join us as the Director, Global Engagement within UCLA’s Alumni Communities team, where you will have an opportunity to guide our global alumni engagement efforts as you work with us on deepening Bruin connections, here in Los Angeles and worldwide. With a global community of close to 700,000 alumni, there are countless opportunities to reimagine how we support and unite our powerful community of Bruins. Under the guidance of the Alumni Communities & Engagement Pathways Team Lead, you will focus on implementing UCLA’s region-based alumni engagement strategy. Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will be focused on building and strengthening community among Alumni both domestically and internationally by connecting alumni back to UCLA and to each other. As the Director, you will further cultivate our global community through strategic outreach, targeted programming and the power of storytelling. You will purposefully identify, develop, and further strengthen alumni communities and will partner closely with volunteer leaders to build leadership and enhance region-based engagement to advance university priorities. You will create value-added programs, experiences and content in partnership with other engagement teams and across Alumni Affairs. As the Director, Global Engagement, you will execute a sustainable partnership model for alumni communities, alumni volunteer identification and volunteer development, and a collaborative approach to region-based engagement and programming. You will partner closely with Academic Departments, International Institute, Development, Government and Community Relations and other key departments to coordinate outreach, programming, and to reach common goals. As a valued member of our Alumni Communities & Engagement Pathways team, you will be provided the guidance, inspiration and resources to excel in a supportive environment as part of the many growth opportunities we offer staff at UCLA.

Qualifications
1. Demonstrated community building or volunteer leadership development experience, including volunteer recruitment, stewardship, training and development.
2. Experience responding to constituent inquiries and concerns in a customer service-oriented, volunteer-driven environment.
3. Experience establishing, overseeing and evaluating collaborations and projects, and in developing support among both internal campus constituencies and external partners.
4. Experience with and understanding of issues involved in a team-oriented environment made up of diverse individuals with a variety of interests, strengths and professional preparation.
5. Experience working in an educational and/or nonprofit, community focused environment is highly desirable and preferred.
6. Strong background in project management, including identifying and setting priorities, performing detailed needs analyses, identifying stakeholders, developing action plans, segmenting projects into their component parts, and managing the process from inception to completion.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously and effectively with co-workers, volunteers, donors, key university officials and other internal and external constituents.
8. Superior analytical ability to define problems and meet objectives, identify relevant factors and concerns, formulate logical objective conclusions, and recognize alternatives and their implications.
9. Demonstrated ability to work equally well as a team and independently with strong follow-up and timely decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision.
10. Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong ability to speak clearly and distinctly, using grammatically correct language to accurately obtain and convey information accurately and precisely.
11. Proficient in using Microsoft Suite of applications; ability to learn new technologies as needed in a prompt and efficient manner.
12. Detail-oriented and goal-oriented, well organized and focused with a high level of initiative and energy to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
13. Skill in using judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact; ability to handle confidential matters in a sensitive and discreet manner.
14. Resourceful with skill in using resources available to gather information needed to complete projects; able to work effectively in a large, complex and dynamic organization.
15. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as required.
16. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
