“People here have virtually unlimited
professional opportunities.”
Alan Han
Father, fundraiser, ballroom dancer, Director of Development for Neuroscience.
“In 1986 my twin brother was studying music at UCLA, so I moved here from China to be near him. My first experience with development was on the receiving end. A generous donor gave me a full scholarship to fund my graduate work. Later as executive assistant to the chief of cardiology at UCLA, I was responsible for donor-related activities. I worked directly with a UCLA alumna who I helped cultivate for six months. I ended up successfully attracting $250,000 for an endowed fellowship. That did it. I became associate director of development in health sciences. Nine years later, I’m still hooked on development.”
